Summer Reflection

It is so hard to believe that our summer 2022 season has come to a close! So much was packed into the last four weeks and now we have a moment to step back and reflect. God blessed us with a summer that pushed us and our campers even more than we could have imagined.

We started the summer by welcoming our Ascend Team for a weekend of training. These kids stepped up to join the first round of a brand new Pine Brook program. They stepped out of their comfort zones continuously throughout the weekend as they went through team builders, training, and learning together. The Ascend Team’s primary role was counseling during our two weeks of Day Camp and our week of Junior Camp. We are so impressed by these young people and the love they have for God, Camp, and the youth they worked with.

Our Day Camp weeks were some of the best we have had in recent years. Our numbers were up each week, and we got to witness so many of our youngest campers learning about how to thrive as they seek a relationship with God. It was truly a joy to see!

During Junior Camp, we had the pleasure of welcoming award-winning speaker and author Renata Bowers as our speaker. Renata blessed our campers with beautiful, joy-filled stories from her Frieda B. books. If you ever have the opportunity to hear Renata speak, we cannot recommend it enough!

Teen Camp was our final week and helped us close out an awesome summer. It was great to see so many of our teens return from pre-Covid, and several who aged out in the last few years returned to counsel. We were blessed by Pastor Mike Sullivan’s preaching and interactions with the teens through their daily activities.

Going into the summer, we were praying HARD that God would work out all of our staffing needs so that we would not have to turn any campers who wanted to be here away. God heard our prayers and delivered! We received such an outpouring of love from our Camp family, so many people were eager and willing to come help where needed. We had past CLIME members, local worship teams, friends of friends who had never even been to Camp, several of our board members, and more step up and into roles. We could not have done any of this without all of the volunteers who care so much about bringing youth into the joy and care of our Savior.

Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in any way this summer. God definitely used this summer in more ways than we can imagine, and we look forward to seeing the fruits of it for a long time. We are excited to carry this energy into the fall, and look forward to seeing what God has in store for the rest of the year!
